Although King West Village is one of Toronto’s most historic Downtown areas, it is also one of its most trend-setting. King West Village is bordered by Queen and Front Streets, with King Street running through it. The popularity of the neighbourhood among young urban professionals gives it a comparable vibe to New York’s Soho.

Toronto’s King West Village has the advantage of being close to the downtown offices for urban professionals, and at the same time close to the entertainment district. It has one of the most vibrant neighborhood restaurant, nightclub, and bar offerings in the city.

For vibrancy of entertainment and culture, look no further than King West’s TIFF Bell Lightbox theatre. It is the headquarters for the Toronto International Film Festival, held annually in September. This makes King West Village the epicenter of one of Toronto’s most prestigious—and most glamorous—arts-related events.

The TIFF Bell Lightbox theater is surrounded by the some of the real estate that makes this neighbourhood so desirable. In fact, the area arguably has some of the best choices of condominiums in the city. There are some lofts that date back to the early part of the twentieth century, originally for industrial purposes, with large windows and architectural detail. However, more are “soft lofts”—recently built to resemble those older spaces, with large windows and detail, but containing up-to-date conveniences. They are all charm and no grit. King West Village also has a number of two-storey loft condominium townhouses.

BlogTO published a very informative article back in February 2014 which included many images of King West dating as far back as 1834. You can read the view the article by clicking HERE

If you’re interested in genuine historical architecture, there are also a handful of historically designated row houses on Draper Street that date back to the 1880s.
