Eatonville was originally a 400 acre farm which was ultimately purchased by the Eaton’s department store in the 1890’s. Eaton’s donated a piece of land to the local elementary school, this school was named “Eatonville School”. The area would later adopt Eatonville as it’s official name.
Eatonville is a great neighbourhood for families. It is conveniently located near Hwy 427, making it a convenient neighbourhood for those who commute or travel for work. Sherway Gardens, one of Toronto’s top shopping malls is a short drive from Eatonville. East Mall Park and Echo Valley Park are both great parks that are located in the general area.
Most of the homes east of the 427 were built in the 1940’s and 50’s. The homes in the neighbourhood were mostly bungalows, one-and-a-half storey homes and two storey Cape Cod style homes. Many of the older bungalows are being replaces with larger more modern homes.
