Islington Village started off with a school, some stores and churches in the early 1800’s. The Thomas Montgomery Inn which is still is present today was the main feature of this neighbourhood. Today, the Inn is used as a local museum. Residential subdivision of the land took place after World War II.
Islington Village is a great neighbourhood for families. It is also a great location for those who commute for work as it the TTC and GO Train are easily accessible from this neighbourhood. A unique aspect of Islington Village is that it features 25 murals throughout the community which were painted by John Kuna.
Islington village consists of Tudor, English Cottage, Colonial and Cape Cod style homes that date back to the 1930’s, 40’s and 50’s. Many of these homes sit on sizeable lots that back onto the Islington Golf Course. Over the years, more and more of the older homes have been replaced with newer custom homes.
