Lytton Park is home to one of the oldest private residences in Toronto, 744 Duplex Ave which was built in 1828 by the Snider family. There was once a castle known as Glen Castle located on what is now known as Glen Castle Street. The first group of homes that were built in the area were built along Glengrove Avenue during the late 1890’s and early 1900’s. Residential development really sped up in 1912 when North Toronto was annexed with the City of Toronto.
Lytton Park is one of Toronto’s most highly sought after neighbourhoods. It is home to many professionals who work in Toronto’s Financial District as well as many families who value excellent schools and a family friendly community.
Most of the homes in Long Branch were built in the 1920’s, 30’s and 40’s and include two storey homes, semi-detached homes and bungalows. Many of the older homes have been replaced with larger and more modern homes. The neighbourhood is made up of large lots and charming tree-lined streets.
