The first development in Mimico took place in the 1890’s. Most of this development took place south of Lake Shore Blvd where some of Toronto’s most affluent families built their summer homes. Mimco experienced a drastic increase in development when the Grand Trunk Railroad built the Mimico Yard which was built in 1906.
Today, Mimico consist of several high-rise condos with stunning views of downtown Toronto and Lake Ontario as well as residential homes that are located a short distance from the water. There is a small portion of Lake Shore Blvd that includes large luxury homes that have direct access to the water.
Mimico consists of a mixture of high-rise condos, bungalows, detached, semi-detached and townhomes. More and more of the older bungalows have been torn down and replaced with larger more modern two storey homes.
