The neighbourhood of Moore Park is named after its developer, John T. Moore. In 1891, John built two bridges in order to incentivize buyers. John was also involved with bringing railway service to the neighbourhood of Moore Park, as well as connecting Moore Park to the Toronto Belt Line Railway, a commuter railway.
Although the neighbourhood suffered some financial setbacks brought on by a recession, Moore Park was completely developed by the 1930s.
Moore Park consists of a combination of large and elegant homes surrounded by lush green space, including Mount Pleasant Cemetery and trails along the Moore Park Ravine. It is conveniently located off of Mount Pleasant Road and is a short drive from Yorkville where you can enjoy fine dining, shopping for designer clothing or exploring the Royal Ontario Museum.
Moore Park real estate is made up of primarily Georgian, English Cottage and Tudor-style homes that were built between 1908 and 1930. Moore Park also includes various townhomes which were built in the 1970s and 1980s. More recently, Moore Park has become a popular neighbourhood for building custom homes.
