Summerhill real estate is some of the finest real estate in Toronto. The community of Summerhill was originally named after ‘Summer Hill’ house which was built in 1842 by Charles Thompson, a Canadian transportation baron. Most of Summerhill was once a part of the Thompson estate and was ultimately subdivided by Thompson’s heirs in the late 1800s. Since the construction of the Summerhill Subway Station in 1954, the community of Summerhill has grown substantially.
Today, the community of Summerhill is a beautiful neighbourhood located in midtown Toronto and consists of tree-lined streets combined with elegant homes of various sizes. Summerhill includes a wide variety of interior décor and clothing shops, cafes, restaurants and bars, making it one of the most desired communities in the city of Toronto.
Summerhill’s first homes consisted of both semi-detached and detached Victorian houses as well as detached Edwardian style houses. These homes were built between 1880 and 1915. A large number of these homes didn’t include driveways. As a result, street parking was made available from the city for a low annual fee.
Today, the neighbourhood of Summerhill includes homes of many different sizes and styles with many properties that include private driveways. Summerhill also includes various townhouses and a variety of low-rise luxury condominiums which were mostly built in the 1980s and 1990s.
