Two Lawyers, William Douglas and Wallace Nesbitt are responsible for the subdivision of the Governor’s Bridge neighbourhood which took place in 1912. However, the construction of homes didn’t start until after 1923 one the Governor’s Bridge was opened.
Today, the Governor’s Bridge community consists of approximately one hundred and fifteen homes that are situated on tree-lined streets. The neighbourhood is conveniently located close to downtown and is a popular neighbourhoods for individuals who work in Toronto’s Financial District, downtown core and midtown.
Most of the homes in the Governor’s Bridge community were built in the 1920’s, 1930’s and 1940’s and range in size and style. Many of the smaller original homes have been torn down and replaced with larger custom two storey homes. Governor’s Bridge is Toronto’s hidden gems.
